EC SWIM SERIES RULES 2016-2017

The Series is open to all keen open water swimmers irrespective of affiliation.
Swimmers wishing to register SSA qualifying times must be registered with SSA and, if not NMBA registered, must have a clearance letter from their Province
Swimmers wishing to qualify for NMBA team selection must be registered with Nelson Mandela Bay Aquatics
Wetsuits are allowed in all swim events but those wearing wetsuits will not be able to apply for SSA qualification
Participant supplied swim caps are compulsory for all swim disciplines
All participants must report to the registration trailer on race day to enter for their particular discipline on the day and to receive their race wrist band
No participation is permitted without a race wrist band or swim cap
Race day entries are open from 08h00 on Race Days
If any lucky draws take place, prize winners must be present and wearing their wrist bands to claim their prize
The onus is on the participant to check the results and to ensure that any problems are reported
Participants MAY NOT go back onto the race course once they have finished their race
Participants who withdraw from the event MUST notify the finish recording staff immediately

The following rules will be applied with regard to entries in combined events (ie when a 10km and 5km are swum together)
If a swimmer enters the 10km event, he/she register to have their 5km time recorded as well (if the course permits)
The swimmer will have to register for this event and pay an additional entry fee before the race
In the case of comined events, a swimmer will only receive a position and/or qualify for any prizes or medals in the event for which he/she entered. Therefore, the official results will only show the result for the event that the swimmer entered
When registering to have an additional time recorded (ie your 5km time in a 10km race) the NMBA officials will take times from the information recorded at the event and submit to the SSA database for the additional race time for those swimmers who are registered with SSA

NMBA Championships

Swimmers must have a time on the database within the 2015/16 season (1 May 2015 to 30 April 2016) for the event/s they wish to compete in at NMBA Championships

Cut-off Times

The following cut-off times may be imposed at the event;
10km Swim - 3 hrs 30 min

If additional times are required, the fee will be an additional R20 (ie requiring a 5km time within the 10km race).

PLEASE NOTE: In a change to previous seasons, swimmers are required to register for each individual race day so that we are able to gauge before hand what the response to certain distances and/or events will be.

For safety reasons, the wearing of swim caps is compulsory for all events - swimmers to bring their own swim caps.

EC Swim Series - What do I need?

Once registered, come down on Race Day and report bringing with you your race confirmation ticket.
Swimmers are to provide their own swim caps and wearing of such is compulsory. Any swimmer starting without a swim cap will be disqualified.
